Each e-scooter wheel is equipped with two bearings that keep your wheel running smoothly. The bearings require maintenance by regularly oiling and cleaning them. This can be done during a service in our workshop, for example.
There is a distinction between open or sealed bearings. Open bearings are only covered by a metal shield, and are therefore not completely sealed. In our online shop, we only sell sealed bearings with a rubber seal. These can be identified by the suffix 2RS in the product name.
It is important to know the dimensions of your bearing, namely the diameter of the outer and inner rings, as well as the width. For simplicity, each bearing has a precisely defined number that is marked on the side cover of the bearing. We carry only the best brand-name bearings from SKF (Svenska Kullagerfabriken) in Gothenburg, Sweden, in our range. These are among the world's leading bearing manufacturers.

The service life of bearings largely depends on regular maintenance and riding behavior. High-quality bearings can last for many thousands of kilometers with proper care. It is advisable to regularly check the bearings for wear and to replace them at signs of rust or noise. Regular lubrication of the bearings extends their service life and ensures smooth and quiet riding.
Moisture is one of the biggest enemies of bearings. If your e-scooter is used in the rain or on wet roads, water and dirt can enter the bearings. To avoid damage, you should always allow your scooter to dry well after riding. Ideally, place it in a dry and well-ventilated area. You can also use a dry cloth to wipe off any excess water. In case of particularly heavy exposure to moisture, it is advisable to remove, clean, and re-grease the bearings if they are easily accessible. We are happy to help you in our workshop if you experience problems with poorly performing bearings.
In winter, the road salt on the streets can pose a serious threat to the bearings of your e-scooter. Salt can accelerate corrosion, quickly damaging the bearings. To prevent this, you should carefully rinse your scooter's bearings with clear water after riding on salted roads to remove the salt. Allow the scooter to dry completely afterward and then apply suitable lubrication.
How do I know when the bearings need to be replaced?
You can recognize this by the noise. If your e-scooter makes loud grinding noises while riding, it is an indication that the bearings need to be oiled. In this case, you can lubricate them. If the noise persists, it is time to have them replaced.
Can I replace my bearings myself?
In e-scooters, the bearings are sometimes installed in the motor and can only be replaced by experts. With non-motorized wheels, replacement is easier. If you have suitable replacement bearings, you can carefully knock out the old ones and gently insert the new ones.
How do I find the right bearing for my e-scooter model?
First, you can remove the tire with the bearings so that you can read the lettering on the side of the bearing. This number indicates the exact dimension of your bearing, and this is what you should purchase.
